Flat response condenser instrument microphone
The Shure PGA 81 is a prepolarized/electret small diaphragm condenser microphone with cardioid pickup pattern. It has a wide frequency response with consistent sensitivity.
The mic has got very positive feedback from people who record acoustic guitar on it. Though, It comes with almost flat response which makes it flexible for a wide range of instruments.
Being a condenser, it has a high sensitivity of 3.8mV/Pa, but thanks to its true cardioid polar pattern, there are no complains on feedback.
Other notable specifications include an output impedance of 600 ohms with rated load impedance of 2000 ohms (minimum) / 3000 ohms (ideal) and a maximum SPL of 129.5dB. For best results, use an audio interface/preamp with rated impedance greater than the rated impedance.
Like all other PG alta series microphones, the PGA81 also features a black metallic finish that achieves an appealing and streamlined look.
