Shure PGA56
Documentation & Links
Designed for close-miking of mid-range instruments
The Shure PGA56 is a dynamic microphone with cardioid polar pattern designed for mid-high range instruments. It replaces the ( now discontinued ) PG56.
As for the specs, the PGA56 is identical to the SM58, but with slightly reduced dynamic range (-57 dBV/Pa vs -54.5dBV/Pa), which means its good for high impact sounds but do not grab as much peripheral audio as a SM58.
Its response is uniform and particularly tailored for snare/tom/percussion with some accentuation in the BASS, providing natural sound reproduction. It doesn’t need much EQ to obtain a correct sound as compared to the Sennheiser e604.
An adjustable drum rim mount with stand-adapter is included with mic that provides easy positioning. The whole body of the mic comes with a black metallic finish that looks elegant. Its compact, durable and lightweight ( just 287g ), but the construction is very solid like any shure microphone.
