Sharp toned, Multipurpose condenser microphone
The Shure PGA27 is a multipurpose large diaphragm condenser microphone featuring a cardioid polar pattern that suits vocals as well as full-range instruments.
Onboard, it’s equipped with a high-pass filter and -15db accentuator pad.
The lows have two variations that’s switchable with its high pass filter. Without the filter, the mic performs flat in the sub-bass (which can be useful for bass instruments).
The high pass filter can be used to accentuate the lows which spans upto 280Hz. This can prevent muffled noise specially when you are recording multiple instruments.
The highs have a strong focus which makes it a bright microphone. It also has a significant boost in air which can be beneficial for reproducing subtle harmonics in instruments.
Overall, the mic has a sharp tonality with good amount of clarity and depth in bass (when used without the filter).
