High SPL Dynamic Live Instrument microphone
The AKG P4 is a dynamic instrument microphone from the “Perception live” lineup of AKG Acoustics. It has a cardioid polar pattern with high SPL capacity, designed for capturing live/onstage sound.
The actual (effective) frequency response of the AKG P4 ranges between 55Hz – 16kHz.
The overall response curve is neutral with a focus at the upper-mids/highs that’s useful to capture clear attack sounds and subtle harmonics in instruments. The proximity effect is minimal at the lows.
According to users, it has a nice open natural sound, good presence, clear attack and solid lows that works great with toms, snares, guitar/bass amps and also sounds surprisingly good on vocals too.
The mic comes with dual thread stand adapter that accommodates both 5/8″ and 3/8″ threads.
